Today’s email is a little different. I want to talk to you about something that I, along with many others, find extremely troubling. It’s the food that most people are eating.

You’ll learn a bit more in the video about this, but I was sparked to focus on this this week after getting two emails from people whose work I admire in the same day: Cyndi O-Meara, an Australian nutritionist and Casey Means, an American Functional medicine doctor. Both are extremely knowledgable and committed to human health and wellbeing.

This one little snippet really jumped out at me from Cyndi’s email.

This spurred me to ask my little friend, ChatGPT, how much they actually get in funding from industry each year. It’s really quite shocking to learn this - you’ll find out more about it when you watch the video.

Meanwhile, in Casey’s email, I loved the opening paragraphs. I think what she describes really speaks to the cruel nature of big business. More on that in the video.

Snapshot from Casey Means’ email.

The fact that children were there too and there was no meaningful response from Kellogg’s really says a lot to me. Even though companies like Kellogg’s don’t put nearly as many chemicals in their products in Australia - they’re not allowed to - I too would urge you to boycott their products. And keep sugary breakfast foods out of the house. They’re not a great way to start the day.

In fact, be mindful of everything that you’re putting in your shopping trolley. So many products say that they’re “natural” and yet, when you read the ingredient list, they’re anything but. Even many so-called healthy snacks, including newer products like protein and keto bars, are really problematic, for all kinds of reasons. We’ll delve more into this sometime soon but for now, enjoy the (short) video and please let me know if you have comments or feedback.

Lou 🙏
